What do I need to do?
First, you need to either purchase the book, or go to your local library and check it out. I have provided a link (click the picture above) where you can purchase it from Amazon.
When does it start?
On June 8th, I will launch our study here on my blog. I am still working on the other Kindergarten teachers who will host the other chapters.
How do I participate?
Make sure that you follow the blogs who are hosting the chapters. Also, make sure that you follow the schedule.
If you have a blog:
You can create a post and link up with the hosting blog. It's simple! I will share a blog post on how to do this :-)
If you do not have a blog: You are always welcome to comment on the blog post to share your ideas. If you create something to share, then you can upload it to Google Docs and share the link in your post, or you can email it to me and I will make sure that I post it for everyone...giving you credit of course.
Make sure you have your book by June 8th :-)
I have never organized a book study before...so hang with me people. LOL! My bloggin' buddy Deedee over at Mrs. Wills Kindergarten is also conducting a book study this Summer, In Pictures and In Words. You should head over and check that. I will be participating in that one also. She was gracious enough to let me use her outline and how to get started. She has also graciously shared her "Book Study Book Mark" with me too. As soon as I have the other K teachers lined up, then I will post that too. Thanks Deedee!!

Thank you so much for doing this! I plan to start Daily Five in my Kindergarten classroom next year too so I will be following your blog for sure! I have the book and have started reading it (well if you count the day I took it along while I had new tires put on my car--haha!) Since then I've been finishing up this school year and haven't had time to get back into it. Your book study will be a perfect excuse to do so! :)
Even though I am a first grade teacher, I think following your book study will be just what I need. I bought both books-The Daily 5 and the Cafe Book. I look forward to reading along with everyone and learning how to make this work for my classroom. Glad to know there are people like me who want to learn something new...and not be alone!!! ~Jane
Yay! Can't wait to start this one too! :)

I read Daily 5 this year. I didn't do much with it with my class. Next year I am making the big change from gr 5/6 down to either K or gr 1. I am looking forward to following your blog to help me bring it to my little ones next year.
I have had this book for years and never really had "time" to read it. But this will be a great way to read it and share ideas with other teachers. Thank you for setting this up, looking forward to it!
I would like to follow your book study also. I am a School Readiness teacher and began incorporating some of the Daily 5 ideas in my classroom at the end of the year.
I am soooooo excited about this! I am going to be using Daily 5 for literacy AND math next year. (I hope I am not biting off more than I can chew..) Anyway, I am about half way through the book, but our literacy support person is going to coach this old dog through this next year. (20 years next year, yikes)
I will be purchasing the book ASAP! I have heard so many awesome things about the Daily 5, but I was too chicken to start it on my own. But, now that I will be getting all this support and wonderful feedback.. I may have changed my mind! Thanks for doing this!
I would love to join! I've been doing The Daily 5 for about 4 years in my kindergarten classroom.
To all of those who are going to be starting using the D5 structure in your kindergarten classroom...you will LOVE it! <3 I have using the D5 for the last 3 years and absolutely love it! Good luck to all! :)
Love to help out!
I read the book last year,,and was trying to figure out how to start it..I did bits and pieces..It will be great to follow with a book study group and start the new FULL day kindergarten year with the whole thing..thanks
I can't wait for this to begin. I followed the Math Work Stations let summer and am so glad I did, it really helped me to implement it. i bought D5 last year, but haven't done a thing with it except dust it off from time to time.
Amen sister! I bought the book in April and started the Daily 5 in May (I got really excited). Now my whole kindergarten team is ready to jump in! I still have many questions but I also have many ideas to share. I'd love to host a chapter if you are still looking for blogs. While I am new to all of this, I am eager to learn! Otherwise, I'll enjoy reading along with all of you!

Thank you! I can't wait to get started! I will still be in school on the 8th, but I still want to do this study and the one over at Deedee Wills. You both are fantastic!
Wow! It sounds (and looks) like you have a given kindergarten teachers that drink of cold water they have been needing! I am excited to participate in your study too! I have had the book for years and now I'm ready to dive in!
Yay! You!

You will be SOOO excited! I have done Daily 5 with my kinder kiddos for years! I am leaving the classroom this year to be the Reading Recovery teacher but will participate in the book study!!
I teach First grade but would love to follow your book study...I am starting my own version of the Daily 5 in the classroom but would love tips/tricks/ideas anyway. :)
I read the book last summer and used the Daily 5 this year in my class. I also had the opportunity to go the see The Sisters for both the Daily 5 and CAFE Menu workshops. They are wonderful. If you ever have the opportunity you should go. I will definitely be stopping back each week to join you. I look forward to hearing everyone's ideas.
Hey Tammy,
I would love to help you out with the book study. I've never done one before either, but have wanted to. So if you are looking for another K teacher to help out, just let me know =)

I am going to first grade from second. I've wanted to implement the Daily 5 because I think it is just what first graders need. Thank you for doing this book study. I can't wait to glean from everyone!

This is Perfect! I used the D5 in a first grade class during my student teaching experience. Next year I'll have my own bilingual kindergarten classroom and plan in implementing the D5 from the very beginning. I can't wait to read, learn, and share during this awesome book study!!!
I'm in! How exciting and what a great idea to make this a book study. I purchased the e-book so I can take it with me during all my travels this summer via my iPad.
Is anyone else going to the I Teach K conference?

WOOOW I am so excited for this!!! I will also be using D5 with my kinders in the upcoming year!!!
Love the Daily 5! I've been somewhat implementing my own version of this over the past two years. I think this books study is just what I need! Thanks for hosting....I'm a new follower. =)

Can't wait for this. I just started D5 this year and absolutely loved it. I definitely need some fine tuning and would love to get and share ideas. Thanks for thinking of us K teachers!!
I love the Daily 5! I have done it for 2 years in K and am using it in 1st now! This year I had half of my K class come up with me, and comparing their reading skills to non-Daily 5 kindlers it was amazing!!! I do a "controlled" version of the Daily 5 and include a S.T.E.M. area, making it the Super 6 in my class. Could not teach without it! I will be re-reading the book this summer too and following this book study and hope to learn a few new things. You will love the Daily 5!
Fun in K/1
Yay! I was wishing for a book study earlier tonight and here you are! I'm a firstie too, but I'm sure I'll be able to gain lots of good information.
I'm following you now!

Count me in! I am starting daily 5/Cafe in my kindergarten class next year as well! I've been reading the book and searching/stalking pinterest for ideas as well. Lots of info out there! Excited to follow this book study.
I am also excited to see how many teachers use D5 in Kindergarten. Our county is strongly advising all of the kindergartens to begin intiating D5 by the 2nd quarter. I read the book 2 years ago and began 4th quarter that year and 3rd quarter this year. I am anxious to hear how you begin D5 at the beginning of the year. Thank you!!
YAY!! I'm headed back to Kindergarten and I've been wanting to do this! Thanks for hosting!
So looking forward to this book study! I read this book last weekend and it has me planning already for next year - and this one is not yet over! I am so grateful to you for hosting this, hope to quell my fear of change and get some questions answered!
Count me in. I read the book last summer and tried it out a bit this year. However I could use some pointers.

theverybusykindergarten :)
I just bought this book to adapt for my resource room - so I'm excited to see how you will change it up for the kindergarten level as many of my kiddos are either at that level or need things as concretely done as kindergarten teachers so often do. Thanks for organizing this!
Valerie
I can't wait! I've read most of the book and started implementing some of it last year. But I plan on going full force next year. Even though I'll be in first next year, I'll be back in Kindergarten the next year. Yay!

I've become intrigued by the references and descriptions that I'm reading about Daily 5 from all of the blogging teachers. I'll be tagging along. I don't blog, but I'll comment when I can.

Hi, I would like to participate in the Book Study. I bought the book this spring and have read it. But, it would be wonderful to go through it with others.

OH, My...I thought I was the only one who wasn't doing Daily 5. I am going to do it next year and I have half-day K...3 hours beginning to end...with 2 1/2 hours of instruction daily. Need to make the most of it! Can't wait! Thanks for doing this!
This is fantastic!! We are switching from Literacy Work Stations to the Daily 5 next year in our K classes because of the Common Core crossover and a new balanced literacy plan that our district is implementing. I know that my fellow K teachers will join me in this book study, can't wait!!
I am a first grade teacher but am eager to learn more about the Daily 5. I work closely with one of the kinder teachers at my school and we are interested in making this work in both grades. Look forward to learning more!!
I can't wait!! I just finished it. Can't wait to hear how everyone is going to do the D5 in your rooms. It was a great read!!

Googled 'kindergarten daily 5' and BAM! Took me right here! I think it must be fate.
Love your blog! I'm excited to follow along with your book study. I did the Daily 5 in kindergarten for a few years and then I went to 2nd grade and now I'm going back to kindergarten next school year. So this will be a nice refresher!
Blessings,

I am in also! I have read the D5 about 3 times. I really am going to implement it this year :) I just need some K support behind me!

I'm very interested in using Daily 5 next year in my kindergarten class!
I've been teaching for 23 years, the first five years in kindergarten, the last eight in 4th grade. I've decided to go back to kindergarten and I'm wondering if I'm out of my mind!
I have used Daily 5 the last four years. It is awesome! I'm wondering how it will work in kindergarten.
Great idea!
Great idea!
I'm in! I got the book in May and I want to get the ball rolling for next year.

I got my copy of the book at the local library. Let's do this thing!
I am so excited I found this:) I bought the book this year and tried it with my Kinders this year, but can still use some pointers on how to implement ALL of the Daily 5 with Kinders:)
Yippee! Last year, I incorporated some of the Daily 5 into my Literacy Block. Learning more, along with other K teachers, will be fun!

Even though I teach first I am excited about this book study. I've read it before and finally started implementing parts of it successfully with my firsties at the END of this year. I'd love to read it again along with others and hopefully figure out how to make it work from the beginning this year.

I hope it's not too late to join! I read the book last year, but need ideas for kindergarten!
Hello! Is there another link that I need to go to to get to the book study?
Thanks!!
Can't wait to start!
Thank you!
Can't want to join the conversation. I have a blog and want to link up, but I am new to this and don't know how. You said you'd post how to do it, but I can't find it! Thanks!

I also am starting Daily 5 this year, have read the book, and now am trying to wrap my head around how I will implement. I am very interested in joining the book study but am not sure I can join the link every Wednesday- can I still follow the blog posts?
Thank you!
